i've been attempting to use autodesk inventor 2018 inventor 2018 to convert a.stl file into a mesh file, but have run into some difficulties. first, i had to enable the add-in for the inventor 2018 software and now every time i try to convert the file, a warning message box appears warning me that the conversion would be "non-reversible." the add-in is installed on a machine running windows 8.1 and windows 10. inventor 2018 is installed on a separate machine running windows 7. i've performed a repair install on windows 8.1 and windows 10 with no success.
i have discovered that i don't have the autodesk inventor lt suite 2018 addin correctly installed in my inventor 2018 16.2. the result of this is that inventor doesn't draw proper geometry when importing models from other software. what i mean is that inventor will draw a perfectly proper model, but will give an error message that the model is "failed" and cannot be used. if you try to try to convert the model into an stl, it will error out and can't be exported to the stl format either.
installed it as described in the manual, but when i try to create a solid from a profile using the mesh enabler add-in nothing happens. still, my.step,.plt,.sld files are edited correctly. no problems at all. stepthrough doesn't work, however.
if the package's a bit outdated, then it should be fine. a thing to pay attention to is that it's not possible to add the add-in to the version of inventor that came with your basic windows. you would need to go to "autodesk." and buy the add-in and make sure that it matches the version of inventor that's on your computer. my solution was to install the add-in and hope that the autodesk folks don't update the add-in. 3d9ccd7d82
